I've got some decisions to make with these year 2 #bonsai projects in the spring. These are cherry plums. I feel like I let them thicken too much. But either way I feel like major chopping is in order. I'm a beginner, suggestions welcome!

Actually I saw the photo of the whole tree and see the one that starts vert straight has nice structure further up so you may well carry on with styling focused on a taller tree if you choose instead of what I mentioned about chopping down to lower branches.

I like the little plastic grid risers you're using there. To me they all look a good thickness to start making decisions. But if you want a thicker base then keep doing what you are. 2 have good movement and options for a chop to have a curve then counter curve. 1 is straight for a long time so may

Look for the front of your tree. So a big cut is on the backside
