Dec. 15 A 120° turn to reds today with the Light Red W130. It’s similar to W134 Burnt Umber with slightly different characteristics (eg. non-granulating, transparent). Both are single pigment so good mixers. I could see it as an alternative skin tone, something rusty or a nice salmon. #hueltide

Dec. 16 Blue is a popular hue. And they don’t come more popular than Ultramarine. Holbein’s Ultramarine Deep W094 uses a synthetic pigment — most do — and has a lovely light wash but can turn dark easily (see Sargent’s watercolours). #hueltide
