September 2000, 10 years old Stede was in the same class as Ed that year. The past four years of them knowing each other, Stede has always been in the other class. Year five, the grade they finally get to sit next to each other. They’re close enough to school where they can both walk (with Stede’s mother hovering close behind). Ed ran over to Stede’s side of the yard to meet up with him and have breakfast at his house while Ed’s mom and Archie walked with Mary and Fang. He’d been to Stede’s house a couple times, it was fancy, like a museum, his parents didn’t like any dirt being tracked in. Ed’s mom had called them neat freaks, they made everyone who walked in put their shoes in clear plastic bags before they walked in.You couldn’t touch anything in there either, they had a massive cabinet of nothing but fancy plates and dishware that they apparently never used. Only on very special occasions, Stede had said one time, although those too were few and far between. What they considered a “special occasion” was a mystery, cause it definitely wasn’t birthdays or holidays. Nevertheless, Ed ran to the sliding door and shoved his face against it, trying to get Stede to see. His mother, Jessica, glanced over and called to the living room. “Stede, he’s here.”

Title: Next Fall Summary: Persephone was cautiously optimistic about whether or not Hades would wait for her, but she got through a season for the first time in god knows how long. On the way back to Hadestown, for the first time in years, she smiles on the train, knowing that her husband is at the station waiting for her.
The gods of life and death had sealed themselves away in the underworld, far away from anyone who could ever hurt their daughter. As a result, Alma grew up in safety, becoming a beautiful and smart young woman under the watchful eyes of her fathers, Evelyn, their guards, and her brother Louis. A baby who had been hatched from an egg when Alma was 4 years old. As secretive as the underworld is, his birth was never known to the pantheon, but the fear of another attack kept the family sequestered in the underworld. Louis never knew a life outside, only the artificial overworld his father could create. Alma knew though, that one memory of the overworld when she was just a baby sat in her mind, clear as day, as if it happened yesterday. She longed to feel the sunlight, to smell fresh air unmarred by sulfur and brimstone, and feel cool water. She longed for the cold, the one thing her fathers couldn't create artificially. Now a young woman–18 years old–she’s ready, ready to finally leave. Her fathers would never allow it though.

"Stede, I wanted to tell you." A new look appears, one of anger, "You wanted to tell me? How long have you known about this?" Ed feels small, yet also like the biggest asshole on the planet. He knew this would happen, he knew it from the moment Evelyn said that they needed to keep this information secret. Ed takes a deep breath, "Four months, since the day we spent the afternoon together in the meadow, when I was a cat." Stede kneels up, he looks shocked and horrified, Ed has never lied to him like this ever in seven thousand years of being together, "You've known about this for four months, and you didn't tell me?!" "I didn't know what to do!" "You fucking lied to me!" Stede yells, a sob in his voice.

Closer to the parking lot than Ed is, and once that bell rings, he’ll sprint to the east hallway, and jump into Stede’s Miata and head to the mall for an uninterrupted afternoon of spending their allowances and debauchery at the food court. God it’s such a gorgeous car, he got it for his 16th birthday, his fucking parents (as much assholes they are) don’t skimp on cars, that’s for damn sure. But there’s still 20 fucking minutes of this class left, they’re not even doing anything, they’re just sitting here watching some stupid episode of Bill Nye.
