Your probably right. But I saw some side by side comparisons and it looked like a lot got lost when it wasn't in IMAX. Everything was much much tighter. Don't know if this is accurate or not.

Seems like that help for the close up problem a little. If i liked it enough it would felt like oh this must be amazing on Imax, but i think i'm good.
