The thought of taking a vacation outside of the city has felt alien to me the moment I stepped foot in my apartment. Azoica is expansive enough that there's hardly any reason to leave, a seemingly endless field of glass and metal joined in beautiful labyrinthian harmony stretching out towards every horizon. There's so much here for me, but not everything beautiful can dance under the industrial chandelier's sparkling light. Knowing the feeling of wet sand between my digits while being splashed by the loving ebb and flow of the sea through books and movies feels empty, like I'm settling for pebbles when a mountain of gold is right in front of me. I need to sink my own talons in, to smell the salty air for myself and soak up all the sun my body can handle. I need to get out of this city.
Thankfully the bay window seat is still available so I head towards the back of the cafe and slide into the cushioned bench, wasting no time digging into the sugary starchy goodness. Watching people walk by outside is calming, like going to the aquarium to watch fish swim around in impossibly large tanks. Each person has something unique about them no matter how similar they seem to another, and I think that's beautiful. This city is so big it feels like I'm drowning at times. Having little pockets of joy like this is like a breath of fresh air, a break in the tide of life that keeps beating on my rocky mind shores.

The door bursts open to reveal the woman you've been waiting to see all morning dripping in sweat while carrying several baskets of fruits and a massive honeycomb chunk. Her forehead shines im the artificial lighting as she steps across the room far quicker than someone with legs should be capable of, reminding you that despite her appearance she is still King of the Gods and Master of the Underworld.

The sudden heaviness of having to split my attention to everything makes me wanna puke. Every strike feels like a supernova, each parry and counter taking nearly all I can give. I feel a second cannon finished, but it isn't enough. Determination burns like wildfire and threatens to consume me, eating through my sanity like a noxious acid. The pain is blinding, but the hunt is sobering. Each heavy impact brings clarity to my mind. Why should it burn when I use my own body? Why should the very thing I live for be a struggle? Pain is an experience of the weak, and I am anything but. A new flame bursts forth, one far more suited to my tastes. The third cannon is completed, which means it is now a race against time. A race to see who will hunt first, a race to claim the right to paint the coliseum with enemy blood. A race I have no intention of losing.

Ecstasy floods my frustratingly human endocrine system as our claws pierce through her chest. The plasma whips she was chasing us with finally give in as the cannon is released from her grasp, colliding with the coliseum shield that cools it into a strange pink gas. Coolant drips onto the sand and fizzles into a black-blue sludge; a waste, but my current mouth has no tongue or throat.

A metal bell rings as we enter, followed by ominous calls from several birds hidden in the rafters. Skulls with glowing green eyes seemingly hang from nothing as they illuminate the place, providing just enough visibility to see the dozens of paintings covering the walls that feel cursed. Logically speaking there's no way that's true, but something in my programming is telling me to be wary of them regardless. Racks of mostly black clothes in various styles line the walls and form corridors, circular tables with gunmetal displays holding eye-catching jewelry made with all sorts of metals, and my goodness that woman is tall! I'm not sure how I didn't notice her standing so close by, especially with all of the dangling jewelry weighing down her wrists and the dozen places I can see piercings. Ankhs and slightly curved daggers are a common theme amongst the charms and her tattoos, reminding me a bit of some pictures I noticed Sandra looking at yesterday. Maybe they're friends or something?

With the way she kills off Hounds in the arena I wouldn't think she'd care about all of those dog mechs I blew up on the way in, but maybe she does after all and is exacting her revenge as torturing me for the foreseeable future? I wouldn't put it past her to do something like that, but something about this seems deeper than her simply enjoying a little bit of human torture as a treat. There has to be some other reason why! I refuse to believe that after all of the calculated bullshit Foustine has gotten up to that there isn't some sort of sinister hidden plan! No, it can't be simple. I just gotta find out what her stupid gimmick is and use it against—
