The full text of my submission on this bill: I am submitting to express my opposition to this bill and to call for it to be scrapped. This bill shows a complete and utter disregard for biological reality, as well as contempt for anyone who does not identify with their birth gender. There is no simple, all-encompassing definition of "biological male" or "biological female" that does not exclude a proportion of the population from either. The full biological process by which sex or gender is determined is not fully understood, and so any definition made is, by its existence, incomplete. Further, there is a significant proportion of the population who do not identify with their birth gender, and this bill including the phrase "regardless of gender identity" shows utter contempt for those individuals' existence and freedom of choice. In conclusion, I vehemently oppose this bill being passed and call for it to be removed from consideration.

My name is Bob (REDACTED), and I oppose the Regulatory Standards Bill. This Bill has been pushed through under urgency, in direct opposition of the democratic processes and rights we hold in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Waitangi Tribunal has found that there was no meaningful consultation with Maori in the creation of this bill, which is in direct contravention of the obligations on the Crown under the Treaty of Waitangi such as partnership and tino rangatiratanga. It is a blatant attempt by bad-faith actors to strip the principles of the Treaty from our legal system and change the legal foundations of our country. In conclusion, I vehemently oppose this further blatant and disgusting attempt by David Seymour to grab power for himself and his adherents at the expense of everything Aotearoa New Zealand has stood for since the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. I reject the idea that one individual should ever have that much power in a country that holds to democracy. (There's a lot more in the middle here, but it's too long to fit in the alt text) I call for the Regulatory Standards Bill to be dismissed in its entirety, and legal safeguards put in place to prevent any more bills being created and forced through under urgency without the agreement of Parliament as a whole, and without the consultations required under Te Tiriti.
