The arcade banner for the game Ms. Pac-Man, which I thought was life-changing. It is a rectangle on a black background and has a rounded rectangle in it of a thick pink line with yellow border. The game title takes up all of the left half and most of the bottom half in giant blocky font with only dots for the interior bits, a thick pink border, and little shadow lines in the bottom right of each letter. Ms. Pac-Man herself sits atop the M of "man" and reclines like a 50's pinup model due to the fact that, inexplicably, she has shapely arms and legs, two heavily eye-shadowed eyes, strong blushed cheekbones, and full lipsticked lips. Her pink bow is holding back some hair and her blue shoes exist for some reason. A pink and slightly hairy or ragged ghost looks up from the bottom right corner enthusiastically. The logo for Midway and Bally appear between them.
The arcade machine banner for the game Defender, which I thought was fine. It is in the middle of an all black image and is a pretty cool spacey design with a black background dotted with white stars and some red and blue streaks of gas or liquid or something. A Jupiter-like planed hangs out in the top right corner. The title of the game is in huge 3-D all caps sort of rounded futuristic yellow font and is narrowed at the top like the opening crawl from Star Wars. The Williams logo appears just above the title and some copyright info is in very small white font in the bottom right corner.
The arcade banner for the game Frogger, which I thought was fine. It is a pretty simple rectangular banner placed on a black background. The banner is mostly blue wit a grey stripe at the bottom representing the road. The game title takes up 2/3rds of the blue part in a fun rounded orange sans serif all caps font with a thick yellow outline. Just to the right is a cartoonish and slightly anthropomorphized frog with a tie and a briefcase just barely dodging a large tire appearing to head directly away from the viewer with the tread showing. In the bottom left corner of the grey road the Sega logo appears and some other copyright stuff all in yellow.
Promo image for the game Animal Well, which I thought was pretty good. It is a scene with a bunch of animals in it, of course, and the title of the game in a tall all caps rounded sans serif font with a bright green offset that makes it look like it is glowing. In the right of the scene, a bunch of hedgehogs with glowing white eyes are rooting around in a field and finding flowers and eggs under a tall (to them) pole with a glowing candle on top. The whole left side is taken up by a rocky cliff and some crows, one of which is resting on a Doric column (I looked it up), one just taking off over the game title, and one resting in a craggly tree that has a candle in a ring hanging from it. A pesky squirrel is pushing over a column on the edge of the field. In the top corner, behind the candle on the pole, are a couple more squirrels in the field and at the very top of the image is a little rabbit hanging out behind a column.
A promo image for the game Dead Space, which I thought was fine. It is A person in thick sci-fi armor looking scared in a steamy, dark spaceship. Some wires are hanging down, the walls are a dark brown... you know what the ship looks like, you've seen the Alien movies. The armor, though, that is different. The helmet is basically a solid cylinder with three slits in it all lit up pale blue. The arm is a segmented upper half and a solid lower half and is holding some sort of spacey pistol which has been motion blurred a little bit. The chest piece is weirdly rounded and sticking out with a blue light shining from it because I think this is the monitor that the person looks at? The whole setup is a dark bronze color with lots of spacey texture. Just over the left shoulder of the person is the title of the game in an all caps serif font that feels both square and rounded at the same time and the serifs are little horizontal spikes, kind of.
Promo image for the game Foamstars, which I thought was not great. It is a female-presenting person sort of falling or jumping through the left side of a cloudy background with dark blue at the top, a pink line in the middle and white at the bottom. The person is wearing a strange outfit of a rolled-up sleeved leather jacket with blue trim, a black leather bikini top, and half-shorts, half-pants in black leather where the right leg is pant but open on the side with criss-cross bands of some kind. They also sport very thick soled platform high-heels that look like thick leather boots (with blue trim), a black and white baseball cap with teddy bear ears on it, and they are holding two strange pistols with white handles that turn at an angle around to connect to a pink bar that connects to the front of the "gun" while the top of it has a sort of pink shell with cylindrical spikes sticking off of it and the front appears to be a round disk with a pink ufo on it with some green cylinder spikes. She's got light skin and pink hair with blue tips and the guns shoot foam. The name of the game is awkwardly placed just to the right of this character, protruding from the front of their short pants in a white rectangle with the name cut out but little 3-D highlights in the cutouts.
The arcade banner for the game Metal Slug X, which I thought was pretty good. It is a narrow rectangle across a black background and the narrow rectangle has a white edge and a very busy background of maybe three screenshots from the game but one is in yellow tone, one in orange, and one in purple. The details are small so hard to make out but you can see some of the cartoonish vehicles, buildings, and characters. At the top left is SNK in blue futuristic sans serif font and at the top right is NEO•GEO in thin serif blue font. The title to the game is in the middle and "Metal Slug" is stacked as two words in an orange/yellow gradient thick all caps serif font that kind of looks like American university font but the M and A are angled. The X is off to the side 2.5 times as tall and in an italic and metallic style with rivets at the top and bottom of the bits of the X. To the left of the title is a ridiculous tank that seems kind of too small with two gatling guns stickout out at weird angles as well as the main cannon. To the right of the title is a jet that is also comically too small with two gatling guns, one on either side of the nose. A bright red sticker on the left side reads "Animated Violence Strong" in a black serif all caps font.
Promo image for the game Alan Wake Remastered, which I thought was not great. It's just a dude with a flashlight shining at you from a pretty grey and foggy scene. He's also holding a revolver pointed down, has a hoodie under a sportcoat, and is just a basic boring white dude with a beard. He's offest to the right of the image so the game title can appear on the left side in bold white all caps sans serif font where the third A has a little guy in it and "Remastered" appears a lot smaller underneath. "Remedy Entertainment" is in incredibly tiny font above it as well.
The box cover for the game E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, which I thought was bad. It is a later Atari 2600 game so it is in the silver box with a red stripe across the upper middle with a rainbow gradient stripe above that. Above that is Atari in supremely large Atari font with the 2600 sideways next to it. The title of the game is in black in the red stripe but the E.T. part is in a brush stroke font and extends below it. The rest of the title is in a kind of rounded serif all caps font with "THE" being a little shorter than the rest. The main image is a drawing/painting of E.T. and Elliott (you've seen the movie) looking up and away with the E.T. spaceship hovering in the background in a bluish cloud swirl. E.T. is doing the finger glow thing and holding a vintage phone that is falling apart and other electronic bits are sort of off to the side floating around. Two bad dudes in shadows are just over the shoulder of E.T.. Elliott is just staring out wearing his red hoodie.
The "box cover" (I think it is fake) for the game Cat Quest, which I thought was pretty good. At the top is the blue PS4 banner with the logo and PS4 in stylized font. In the bottom left is the ESRB rating of E and in the bottom right are the dev logos from The Gentlebros and PQube. The main image is of an anthropomorphized cat in just the top of a suit of armor holding a sword and standing at the top of a small dirt hill looking pissed off. In the background are a number of characters from the game including a winking cat with a bandana on, a little flying ghost cat, a lion with a crown and robes, a very large cat wearing a metal eye mask and rendered in a blue that nearly matches the sky, a buff cat with a striped tank top on, and a mage cat in purple with the tall hat, shadowed face, and robes. The background is a mostly cloudy and kind of stormy but still very blue sky with a couple dragons flying around. The game title appears below the tower of characters in a sort of calligraphic font in metallic yellow with a brown shadow and a beige sword lying next to the C.
Promo image for the game Portal Knights, which I thought was not great. In the middle of the image are three fantasy characters in a cartoony style, a female-presenting witch on the left in a blue robe holding a staff with a purple crystal on the end, a male-presenting knight in the middle with a full suit of armor and a sword, and a ranger character of indeterminate gender in a green hood with a crossbow. They stand upon an outcropping made of brown dirt blocks with grass on top. In the bottom right are two plant monsters, in the background on the right is an enemy knight with a head that is made of fire, in the top right are a couple purple bats with single spherical eyes for bodies, and in the top left is a large and thick dragon with white underbelly, orange body and dark grey top scales. Behind the characters in the middle, a stone arch with a glowing blue light sits just under the game title. The title is on a rock-like tablet in yellow serif font with the knights part wider at the bottom to look tilted backwards and the "o" has a blue swirl in it like a portal.
The box cover for the the game Pac-Man (Atari 2600 version), which I thought was not great. The art isn't even the best Atari box art! The box is yellow with the standard Atari font at the top with the game in large print followed by Video Computer System Game Program, 8 Video Games) and "The home version of one of your favorite Arcade games. One Player • Two Players". The main art image is a background of a maze with dashes in it (red flag) with Pac-Man being chased by three pink ghosts. Overlaid upon the maze is a large Pac-Man eating what looks to be a pop tart while the three pink ghosts look up at him from the bottom left corner. The Atari logo is in the bottom left as well, the copyright info is down there, along the left side is some licensing info, in the opposite bottom corner is CX2646, and below the art is a little teddy bear image followed by Special Feature (which I'm not sure is actually on the original box? Maybe some kind of add on for this image I found?).
Promo image for the game Returnal, which I thought was fine. It is a person in a space suit with a gun and a grid of a bunch of ruined space helmets behind them. The title of the game is centered in a yellow futuristic sans serif font with some rounded edges and an effect to make it look like some of the edges are turning into dust or smoke. The spaceperson and helmets are all very grey and black.
Promo image for the game Pode, which I thought was fine. In the center are the two main characters, a rock-like lil' guy with triangle arms and legs and rectangle eyes in a grey face on a black cube-ish body and a spherical glowing lil' guy with triangle arms and legs and elliptical eyes on a bright yellow face and body. They stand on a rock outcropping in a cave surrounded by green lettuce, grey crystals, brown mushrooms, yellow protrusions of some kind and some brown leafy things. In the far background you can see the back wall of the cave and some more plants near the ceiling. Just above the main characters, the name of the game is in a very decorated red font with yellow highlights and swoopy lines with blobs and curves on the straight part of the P and d. Two green sprays and swirls are at the start and end as well.
Promo image for the game Star Wars Outlaws, which I thought was fine. It is a bunch of characters in a little mountain in the middle just like every other star wars image. At the top is the main character, a female presenting person with long wavy hair, holding a blaster in her hand pointed at the sky. Over her shoulder is a creature with a wide face and three short "tails" hanging form the side of its head. Below them are a number of characters: a dark skinned person looking to the right and shooting a blaster with two hands, another person just to their left also looking right, a male-presenting pink Twi'lek (you know what that is, nerd) below them looking stoic, Jabba the Hutt below them and a stormtrooper to his right, a member of the Pyke family below them, a robot guy to Jabba's left, and a bearded guy in the shadows to the robot guy's left. At the top is a big old red planet mostly in shadow and the game title at the top at an angle in the star wars font but modernized a bit.
A promo image for the game Season: A Letter To The Future, which I thought was not great. It is an image of a person sitting on the ground next to a bicycle. There is a pinkish sky with big puffy clouds and some leftover pieces of bridge in the background. They are sitting in a beige/orange field with some tall grass and grey flowers. The bike is old school looking in blue with white tires and has a bag rack and low top tube. The person has short hair and dark skin, is wearing very large round glasses, blue pants, grey longsleeve shirt and a blue sweater is tied around their neck like one of those preppy kids. A brown bag rests next to them in the grass and it has a few colorful pins or buttons on it.
A promo image for the game Ultros, which I thought was fine. It is a very colorful retro futuristic scene with a person reclining in a circular opening. The person has their arms folded and is curled up sort of like they have a tummy ache. Their neon green face shield on their helmet is looking down over a sword strapped across their front and their red tattered cape is lodged underneath them. They have robotic looking arms with bronze forearms and green wires hanging out and cool purple basketball shoes with neon green soles. Behind them is a starry sky and the walls of the circular thing they're in are decorated with space lights and textures. Above the person is the name of the game in a blocky neon green font that gets more organic and messy as you read to the right. A number of black and purple splotches of color are just behind the title. Everything looks pretty cool.
Promo image for the game A Short Hike which I thought was pretty good. It is a nature scene that appears digitally hand-drawn. The background is a sky at sunset or sunrise with orange tones, hand drawn cloud outlines, a distant mountain shadow, and some near trees. Floating in the foreground is a circle of grass with an anthropomorphic bird person standing on it. The birdperson is wearing a red shirt or dress, holding a hiking stick, and has a brown backpack on. Their extremely round head has one eye visible and the beak is turned slightly up and pointed to the right as if they are looking in that direction. The game title appears above them in a flowy script font in white with a mountain outline above it and the cross of the "t" makes sort of a hill below that.
The box cover for the game Air Combat, which I thought was fine. The left side is a black bar with the Playstation logo at the top, the word PlayStation vertically and the old school rating of K-A. The main image is of three fighter jets painted white with red flame-ish details on the wings flying so fast that they are slightly motion blurred. Another jet in the top left has been exploded as well. The not-exploded jets are flying just below the viewer and the horizon is tilted at a jaunty angle giving everything some action lines and blur. There's a bridge on the left with tall red towers, sea underneath the jets and a green forest and brown beach in the background. There's a large rectangle of black at the bottom that the noses of the jets protrude into and the namco logo is in the bottom right corner of it. At the top is the game title in metallic italic sans serif all caps font.
A promo image for the game Minecraft Dungeons, which I thought was fine. It shows a lot of blocky dudes in a blocky dungeon either standing around or doing a fighting move. In the middle is a block person jumping ans swinging a sword at the viewer. To their right is a rogue character with two blocky knives. To their left is a block person in a helmet holding a crossbow. There's also another block person wearing some kind of armor and holding a mace while jumping. Around them are various pixelated block enemies, like a duck, a yellow block with a key sticking out of it, that green thing from Minecraft, a slenderman looking thing and some other stuff. The title of the game is at the top in very large 3-D block font tilted backwards.
Promo image for the game Rollerdrome, which I thought was fine. On a black background, a classic 70's style image of a bunch of folks sort of exploding out of the center and doing things. In the middle is a female presenting head with medium tone skin and a stern expression wearing a red striped white motorcycle style helmet and a red collar with white stripes. Surrounding her are scenes of a grey arena with white puffy clouds overhead. To the top right there is a light stanchion with some kind of gun turret below it shooting and below that a person in a yellow and black jumpsuit swinging a large club. Just below and to the left a person in a grey and black jumpsuit holds a large cannon of some kind. Continuing around the head to the bottom left, two people in red jumpsuits hold riot shields, above and left of that is some kind of yellow armed robotic thing with white smoke descending from it like it is a rocket launching. Another far away light stanchion is in front of a deep red sun and then a final person in a red jump suit and roller skates is leaping away from the helmet person while holding a gun in front of a large white puffy cloud. The game title is at the bottom below all these images like a 1980's horror move in a red sans serif font skewed to look like it is tilted backwards.
Promo image for the game Wizard With A Gun, which I thought was not great. In the corners of a mostly black spacey background, there are four wizard characters with guns shooting different color magic. In the top right, a wizard with a pointy hat and gloves is firing purple lightning from a sniper rifle. In the top left, a wizard with a wide-brimmed western hat and collared jacket is firing an orange laser beam from a handgun. In the bottom left corner, a wizard with a wide-brimmed hat and a bandana over their face is firing acidic green bullets from an automatic submachine gun. In the bottom right, a wizard with a witches hat and a cape is shooting spirals of blue something or other. In the middle is a tall cartoonish black tower backlit in dark red and the title of the game appears in the middle of the image and tower in a massive shield with a banner behind it in a hand drawn all caps yellow font where Wizard and Gun are in a very bold 3D font curving around the top and bottom of the shield and With A is in the middle in a plain yellow.
Promo image for the game Battlefield 2042, which I thought was not great. The main image is of an army dude looking over his shoulder while walking away from the viewer. He's got a lot of army stuff on and holds a big gun. A streak of orange light shines down from the top right corner and the rest of the background is blue-green toned images of military stuff. In the bottom right is a naval ship in a sea with a hurricane behind it, in the bottom left is a tank going into a sandstorm, above that his a fighter jet over a city, above the ship is a helicopter flying over a radar dome. The game title is in the middle in a tall bold sans serif font in white but the A, second T, second E, and both L's are sliced and kinda shifted a bit. 2042 is on the second line and little pixels are taken out of the 2's and the 4.
The cover for the game Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere, which I thought was fine. On the left is the classic PlayStation 1 black stripe with the Playstation logo at the top, the word PlayStation vertically and the ESRB rating of E at the bottom. The main image is of two fighter planes, one flying nearly directly at the user maybe after taking off from the visible airport below, another turning upwards away from an explosion. The one coming right for us is grey and very close with its many wings extending off the side of the image and one missile on one wing. The other one is black with the same number of sings in a different configuration and a bunch of little contrails from all those wings. At the top is the game title in a futuristic rounded grey all caps font with electrosphere below in orange lower case. Above the title it reads "From the Creators of Air Combat" in a yellow sans serif font on a grey stripe. The Namco logo is in the bottom right corner.
The box for the game 1942, which I thought was not great. It is a dark blue box with a red and blue offset grid at an angle on it. in front of the grid is the main image of three warplanes in a dog fight, a grey twin engine one in the top left corner zooming towards the viewer while being chased by a single engine plane appearing to shoot from the wings. The third is a larger green twin engine plane with the red circles like the flag of Japan on it but one engine is on fire and smoking badly. At the top of the box it says "State-of-the-Art High Resolution Graphics" in a sans serif white font just above the title of the game in a 3-D orange serif font. Below the title is "Licensed by Nintendo for play on the" NES logo followed by "Game Pak By" Capcom logo. At the bottom is the Capcom logo again and the Nintendo seal of quality.
A promo image for the game Dredge, which I thought was fine. It is a dark image, mostly browns of a rickety fishing boat in front of a lighthouse. The sky is brown with darker brown, moody clouds and some lighter clouds in the distance. On the horizon are some tall trees behind the lighthouse. The light house is on and has horizontal stripes. The boat is viewed from the side and has a number of ropes and tires hanging from it and a single cabin on the left. It floats on an ocean that we get a peek of and see some ominous vines and a spooky, messed up sail fish with a red eye, sharp teeth, and a very pointy nose.
A screenshot of the game Worldle, which I thought was fine. In front of an all dark blue background, it shows the white silhouette of a country's borders above six rounded grey/blue rectangles. Above the country is the name of the game in all caps white sans serif font (but the middle L is green) with a red question mark on the left, a little graph and gear on the right. Below the rounded rectangles two white-bordered rounded rectangles hold a text input box with "Country, territory..." in a grey sentence case sans serif font with a medium blue background it and a button with a little globe and "Guess" in all caps white sans serif font.
Promo image for the game Nioh 2 Remastered, which I thought was not great. This is for the complete edition and has a gold frame around the top and sides. The main image in the middle is of a Samurai-style warrior in front of a menacing demon figure. The bottom has a dark grassland and a foggy bit above that conceals the shadow of some swords stuck in the ground. The Samurai guy is kneeling and holding his sword vertically with the tip on the ground and the hilt in front of his face. The demon guy is all lit up with gold flame and has gold horns. In front of demon guy's face is the game title in a brushed Asian style font in silver with the 2 in red. To the right of that is "Remastered" in a gold all caps sans serif font and "Complete Edition" in the same font but silver in front of a grey banner.
The box cover for the game Bowling, which I thought was pretty good. It is a blue box with classic all caps Atari font in white, spelling out the title at the top, followed by "Video Computer System" in a slightly smaller size. Below this, the font turns to yellow and gets a little bigger, reading "Game Program", and then back to smaller in two columns with "6 Video Games" on the left and "Curve Ball • Steerable Ball • Straight Ball • One Player • Two Player" on the right. The main image is an incredible 70's watercolor and pen image of bowling that is filled with action. The whole image is tilted down to the right a bit and diagonally across the image of two people bowling is a horizon-like line of pins being knocked down by a black bowling ball and a blur of greyish red. The bowlers are overlaid on top of each other with a male-presenting 70's guy in the front with brown pants, an orange shirt, and a sick moustache and a female presenting person behind them with long blond hair in a ponytail but not much else showing. The hand closest to the viewer is doing the bowling action and is represented by about four arms in a motion like anime characters doing a million punches. The Atari logo and "A Warner Communications Company" are in the bottom left corner and "CX2628" in the right corner.
Promo image for the game Dave The Diver, which I thought was pretty good. The image is of six characters from the game lining the sides of a blazingly sunny day in the background. A few seabirds circle above and some wispy clouds do the same. A floating sushi restaurant is in the distance between the characters with "Mr. Bancho" on the sign and a little picture of the top right character. He has a sushi-style bandana on, dark skin, sunglasses, and a full beard and is turned mostly away from the viewer but looking back over his shoulder with a grimace. Just below him a suavely dressed man with slicked back white hair, sunglasses, white goatee and sideburns, and medium light skin is wearing a red button-down shirt that is not buttoned, a white tank top and green pants. Just below him is a stern looking woman with thin red glasses and light skin who is holding a clipboard and pen while dressed in a business suit. On the opposite side of the image at the top is a dark-skinned man in safari gear and mirrored sunglasses joyfully looking out into the distance. Below him is the titular diver with light skin, a full beard, and a intensely jolly facial expression wearing full diving gear and doing a thumbs up for the viewer. The final character is below him and is a light skinned man with blonde hair and sideburns, a red bandana, and half-rimmed glasses wearing a plaid shirt over a pink shirt with an anime character on it and holding something off screen that he's looking at. The title of the game appears at the top in an all caps sort of pixel font with the Dave part in yellow and The Diver part in dark blue with a little diver between the words.
The box cover for the game NBA2K23, which I thought was not great. The main image is of two basketball players, with a Phoenix player standing taller on the left with a red and purple basketball jersey on and a Seattle player on the right with a green and gold jersey. Both are making stern faces at the camera while the Seattle player pops the top of their jersey to emphasize the city name and the Phoenix player has a basketball in one hand and the other is awkwardly on the should of the little one. In the background is a fiery sunset with the respective cites on the respective sides and the horizon and sky are curved to appear spherical (maybe like a basketball). At the top is the PS5 logo and below that is the NBA logo and the game title. The title is in extremely bold all caps sans serif font with NBA in gold, 2K in gold outline and red background and the 23 in gold outline only. Th ESRB rating of E is in the bottom left and a couple other logos in the bottom right.
A screenshot of the title screen of the game AlphaBetty Saga, which I thought was fine. The main image is of a trio of anthropomorphized mice standing in a cul-de-sac at the edge of a town and a forest. The trees of the forest are quite strange with rounded, textured green meringues at the end of branches? The town has a clock tower with a sen on button instead of a clock and some other pointy-roofed buildings that are mostly obscured or distant. In the far distance, Stonehenge is on a hill on the left and a pyramid is on a desert island in the strangely too-visible sea. In the middle, the three mice are overjoyed to be standing there. Maybe too overjoyed. The mouse on the left is wearing a skirt, white shirt and blue scarf, has thick red hair and is waving at the viewer. The one in the middle is the shortest, wearing an aviator hat/goggles and jacket, and is doing two thumbs up in front of itself. The one on the right has a briefcase held out in a welcoming gesture and is wearing an old-timey white person grandpa setup with a red sweater over a grey vest over a blue shirt with a red bowtie and a grey bowler hat. He's got a white moustache, of course. Below the mice are two keyboard-like buttons, a large green one labeled "Play" and a slightly smaller blue one labeled with the facebook logo and "Connect". In the bottom left of the screen is a poker chip sort of button with a clear settings icon in it and the top right has the King logo. The game title appears in the top middle in a jaunty serif font over a green circle with a red ribbon on top and the word "saga" in a red sans serif font on square yellow tiles below.
The box cover for the game Generation Zero, which I thought was not great. The main image is of an awkward two-legged robotic gun where, the gun hangs down between the legs on an upside-down turret thing. It appears to be searching a small town as there are a couple wooden buildings in the background and a few cars. In front of the robot is a pile of pallets and fuel cans. In the near foreground three people are crouched behind rocks, kind of, with one looking to the left and holding a submachine gun while wearing blue jacket with a yellow S on it, another right next to them in a leather jacket holding up their hand while facing away from the viewer and towards the robot and a third on the right in a track jacket with a backwards baseball hat holding a long rifle pointed at the robot. They're all going to die because this game is difficult. At the top is the PS4 logo and stylized "PS4" in a blue banner, at the bottom is the ESRB rating of Teen, and the logo of the studios, Expansive Worlds and Avalanche Studios, and publisher, THQNordic. The game title is just at the top of the main image in a very bold all caps white sans serif almost Impact-like font.
The box cover for the game Golden Axe, which I thought was not great. It is the standard SEGA Genesis box with a painted/drawn main image and the black graph paper design at the bottom with the game title in all caps bold yellow Papyrus-like font. Below that it reads "16-bit cartridge" in all caps sans serif white font and below that in smaller non-bold "for use with the sega genesis video entertainment system". At the top of the main image is the geometric SEGA Genesis logo. In front of the head and fire is the barbarian character holding an axe. He's got too many muscles, is shirtless for some reason, long blonde 80's metal hair, and a very tall metal belt. To his left is the lady warrior I guess with long black 80's metal hair wearing a bikini of all ridiculous things and holding a sword in a really weird way like it is a candle. To the right of beefy boy is the dwarf character riding a lil' green dragon for some reason and holding his axe aloft. The dwarf is the only one appropriately dressed in some kind of armor and pants.
A promo image or maybe an old screenshot for the game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, which I thought was pretty good. It is a typical Star Wars image, with a wide cast of characters in the middle of the screen engaged in brandishing lightsabers and blasters. The background has the round sphere of the Death Star in the center and various ships flying outward from the center in space. The left side is dark side ships, four hexagonal-winged TIE Fighters and a pointy-winged TIE Interceptor. The right side is the light side with two X Wing fighters flanking the circle/triangle of the Millenium Falcon and a faint cross-shaped B Wing in the background. The main two characters in the middle are Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, engaged in a saber duel. On the right are Chewbacca, Han Solo, Mace Windu, Master Yoda, and Princess Leia (in Hoth attire). On the left is Boba Fett, Darth Maul, a Stormtrooper, Asajj Ventress, and Emperor Palpatine. Except for Vader and Luke, the characters are blue tinted from the bottom up hinting that they are actually just holographic images instead of the actual folks. Below the blue tint is a black smoke and the title of the game with Star Wars on top in Star Wars font in the middle of a horizontal line, "Galaxy of Heroes" below that in a bold vaguely Star Wars font with some action lines, and the EA logo below that in the middle of another horizontal line.
A promo image for the game Bowmasters, which I thought was fine. It is a cartoonish and chaotic scene set on a grassy base with a fenced in cemetery in the background, a forest behind that, some tall, snow-capped mountains behind that, another distant set of mountains behind that, and, somehow, a nighttime cityscape on the horizon below a twilight sky where the moon is poking just off the top of the image. In the foreground is a cast of characters murdering each other in fun ways, like a chainsaw, arrows to the head, a spear, and just being a shark. There's a Robin Hood type, a lumberjack, the aforementioned shark, a boy scout, a spartan, and some skulls on the ground. Arcing over the chaos are several projectile weapons, an arrow, a firework, a sword, one of those ninja throwing daggers, and a unicorn farting a rainbow. The title of the game is in a curved orange banner over the top of two crossed arrows with a skull in the top quadrant in front of a target on a shield like green crest.
The arcade banner for the game NFL Blitz, which I thought was fine. On a red and blue cloud and lightning background, the word Blitz takes center stage. Kinda funny how an American sport uses a German WWII war tactic as a descriptor for part of the national sport obsession, right? Anyhow, Blitz is in some futuristic font in a red trapezoid with a red triangle behind it and the lightning has definitely struck it more than twice. In the bottom left are the NFL and NFLPA logo and in the bottom right is the Midway logo and a bunch of very tiny copyright text.
A screenshot of the game FreeCell, which I thought was fine. It is an old Windows operating system window with a blue bar at the top that reads FreeCell Game #22843, a grey bar just below that has "Game" and "Help" on the left with the first letters underlined and "Cards Left: 52" on the right. Below the bars is the playing surface in a casino table green. There are 8 rectangles at the top with a square with a traditional playing card design King head in the middle of two groups of four of the rectangles. All of the playing cards are in eight face up stacks slightly vertically offset so you can see the value of the card and a little bit of the suit. The left four stacks have the cards 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, A, with A as the card under all the others, and the right four stacks have the cards, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K. This particular arrangement makes it impossible to win, of course!
A promo image for the game Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, which I thought was fine. It is a digital image of a mostly cloudy sky during a red- and orange-tinged sunset. Through the clouds just the hint of a craggy moon peeks through and the sun is setting in the bottom right corner. A tall rock formation is the only thing on a very low horizon. In the middle of the image a white male-presenting person stands in a moderately awkward stance that makes his head look pretty small but in his right hand he holds a blue lightsaber pointed towards the ground and his right hand appears to be ready to draw a blaster holstered on his thigh. He's wearing a leather jacket and blue jeans but they're kind of futuristic. He makes a determined face below his short red hair in a pretty nondescript hairstyle. Just to the right of the Jedi is the trapezoidal prism head of a lil' robot guy with one lit up eye and two antenna. The game title is at the top with "Star Wars" in the classic font in the middle of a line above the title center justified in a light serif font with "Jedi" about double the height of "Survivor" and the EA logo in the middle of a line below the title.
A promo image for the game The Exit 8, which I thought was pretty good. It is an almost all yellow graphic with black Japanese characters above the English word Exit on the top left and a large 8 on the top right both in a black sans serif font, probably Helvetica or something. That's it.
Promo image for the game Cat Quest II, which I thought was pretty good. The main image is a large group of characters from the game with the game title below in a gold metallic sort of medieval seeming sans serif font. Behind the characters are some architectural details and a spacey mystic background in purples and reds. In the front of the group of characters are a yellow cat in a blue shirt with brown leather straps and gloves a white dog in a bronze suit of armor a disembodied blue cat head ghost with sparkles and a crown. Behind these main characters are a number of other cats, dogs, and humanoids. There's an orangeish cat with a red hat that is winking, a grey cat that's a little larger and wearing a striped shirt, a bulldog with a stern look and some kind of crown/hat thing, a pink dragon, a blue shaggy dog with glowing eyes and grey or stone armor, several jesters, the mage from Final Fantasy, and an emo dog. Atop them all is a humanoid cyclops with a tall head in purple and blue.
A promo image for the game Skul: The Hero Slayer, which I thought was not great. It is a mostly purple image of a humanoid skeleton person crouching atop a pile of defeated foes. They have a large bone in one hand, a flowing cape, and their very round skull has one eye glowing harder than the other. Behind them, a large moon illuminates the purple sky. The main game title is in large white title case calligraphic font below them with a purple u. Below "Skul" is the subtitle in a serif font with little embellishments, like the o is a skull, and two long-ish lines on either side. Below that for some reason is "Demon King Castle Defense" also in the same serif font but more purple and two dashes on either side.
A promo image for the game Cat Quest III, which I thought was fine. It is a pirate themed image with a faded map in the background, a ship's wheel, and then a large group of characters and things form the game piled in the middle. it is a bit hard to discern characters from each other but the main one is a yellow pirate cat in full swashbuckling gear (but no eyepatch) looking to the right of the image. Behind this cat is a small brown pirate ship with a black cat skull on the sail. Tn the center of the image is a small ghostly disembodied cat head in glowing blue wearing a captains hat and eyepatch. Behind the ghost is a muscley and full chested female-presenting tan cat with a striped muscle tee and sailor cap on. The rest of the characters are in three colors, with blue and black themed pirates on the right, purple rat-like pirates on the top left and reddish brown pig pirates on the bottom. In front of the pig pirates is the title to the game in gold 3-d vaguely medieval theme font with a brown rope and anchor entwined around the III and trailing off to the left.
A promo image for the game Planet of Lana, which I thought was fine. It is a painting-like pastoral scene of a green field with distant trees, some low clouds, and a blue sky with the distant shadow of a large planet on the horizon. In the foreground, a child stands looking to the right with their hands by their side. They have dark hair, light skin, and are wearing a white and grey top with a belt of some kind, and black pants. Just to their right a small, round, black creature with a curly tail sits looking in the same direction. To the right is a rock outcropping casting a heavy shadow. Atop the rock platform is a trapezoidal black robot (actually a frustum of a cone but rounded) perched up on tall spindly legs pointing one blue-ringed eye back at the child and creature. At the top, the title of the game is in a widely spaced sans serif all caps white font with an underline punctuated in the middle with two bold outline white circles with a larger circle with a thinner outline in the middle.
The cover for the 10:07 record Happiness Breakdown, which I thought was pretty good. It is a light blue cover with the band name and record title at the top in an all caps light serif font, the band name being double height on the left and the song/record title words stacked on the right. At the bottom is "B/W with or without you" in a pretty standard serif font followed by "1991 Ded Beet Records" in a bold sans serif font, slightly smaller. The main image is a black and white picture of the band in a black border. The band members are huddled together sitting on a sidewalk and covered by a Washington State flag as they presumably feign sleep. The leftmost band member has a copy of a newspaper with a headline that reads "WAR BEGINS".
A promo image for the game Death Squared, which I thought was fine. It is a pretty simple image with a bluish background. The game title is in white in the top left corner in a bold sans serif font with angled corners and a solid square with two eyes for a Q. In the foreground, the focus is on a red, cubic robot with a single wheeled "foot" and Pokeball-like singular "eye". Behind the main character robot is a stack of three other cubic robots in green, yellow, and blue with four, three, and two eyes respectively. The robots are stacked vertically with blue on top and green on the bottom and the yellow robot in the middle has a sideways banner on it that reads "I'm with stuppid" and an arrow that points at the blue robot above it. Fun!
A promo image for the game Art of Rally which I thought was not great. The image is a low polygon model of a Lancia Stratos Group B rally car jumping towards the viewer at a very sideways angle. While not licensed as such it is clearly the Stratos in white with four extra rally headlights between the two pop up headlights, the classic wedge shape, a similar green and red livery to the original, and the gold wheels. The car is in a dusty, tropical(?) setting, with tall trees blurred in the distance, and tall grass in the foreground and midground (that's a thing, right?). The sun is low in the sky and the sky is a very pale bluish shade of white. The title of the game is in the top third in all lowercase bold font with little curves at the bottom of the "t" and the "l"s.
The cover for the Into It. Over It. records "Standards", which I thought was fine. It is an image of an embroidered design on a cream colored fabric still in the gold embroidery hoop against a black background. The embroidery is a cloud with three uprooted flowers, two snakes intertwined around them and then reaching upwards towards an eye that seems to be raining. On the left of the left snake is a little lock and on the right of the right snake is a little key. That's it!
A promo image for the game Children of Morta, which I thought was fine. It is a very busy image with five humanoid figures at the bottom in various fighting stances and a background of grey and green doors, buildings, and trees? In the middle is sort of a shield shaped image in purple and black with a blue glow behind it and the game title in the middle in a font I don't really know how to describe. It is interesting and boring at the same time. Anyhow, the five fighters all have swirling glowing magic around them. On the left is a punchy guy with red stuff emanating from his hand, below him is a magic user with runes and flames all around. In the middle is your typical sword and shield guy both of which are highlighted in blue. In the bottom right is a dude with lil' knives also highlighted in blue and above him is a guy with big sideburns and a big hammer highlighted in green.
The cover for the Chad Price / Rocky Votolato split 7" record, which I thought was not great. It is a monochrome blue and white, shallow depth of field picture of a garden sculpture? The sculpture is a lil' baby European-style angel offset so that the wing on the left is in the center of the frame. The wing is a dark blue in shadow while the angel is mostly white. It is looking down and to the right and one hand is pointing downwards as well. In the background are some not very lush plants. There is some vignette effects around the left and bottom border, as well. In the bottom left, the artists' names appear in a white all caps lightly serifed font.
A promo image for the game Endling: Extinction Is Forever, which I thought was pretty good. The image is of a family of foxes traversing a makeshift bridge over a river at night. However, if you look closely, you see the rot of humanity's excess. In the river are numerous trash items like barrels and tires. In the background to the left are the active smokestacks of a factory of some sort. Off to the right, two humanoid figures, probably the hunters from the game, skulk between sparse trees in what is left of a forest. The fox family themselves walk across a pipe of some sort with wires hanging from it. The lead fox appears cautious and sniffing the ground while their three fox cubs are bounding behind them and the moon sets or rises in the background. Above this scene is the game title with "Endling" in tall all caps white slightly distressed sans serif font with a diagonal line crossing out the word. Below that is the tagline in a tall and narrow font that appears sort of handwritten and imperfect but repeats the imperfections (the N is slightly askew, for example). This game is real sad.
The cover for the 20th Anniversary 7", Vol. 1, by The Bouncing Souls, which I thought was fine. It is the top left corner of a larger image with a background of greyish purple and lighter grey that says "Here We Go" repeatedly in fuzzy all caps font. The end of a bone from a skull and crossbones design is visible in the lower left in white with a red background and is just to the left of a curved banner with the "Boun" part of the band name in it in a piratey all caps serif font. The bottom right of the image appears to be the top of a 2 in black on a white and grey background in a red circle.
A promo image for the game Diablo IV, which I thought was fine. In front of a glowing red background, a female-presenting demon makes a stern face. She has a ton of horns, two giant horns that protrude from the sides of her face and split into four points in the far back, two that start just below the big ones and point forward and down towards her neck, and two on her shoulders for some reason. The hint of giant wings line the edge of the image. She's got deep set dark eye shadow and dark lipstick on, tiny lil' greyish eyes, and grey skin with many dark veins showing. Her tall neck has a tall choker necklace of a dark metal and there's a symbol of some kind apparently embedded in her chest just below it. Dark pointy armor or clothing of some kind covers her shoulders and the rest of her torso is shaded in darkness, just behind the title of the game. The IV part is behind the Diablo part and is in glowing red serif font like molten hot metal while the Diablo part is in a grey metallic font, widely spaced in all caps, and sharply serifed (even the O is serifed somehow).
A screenshot of the title screen of the game Badly Drawn Logos, which I thought was bad. The background is a sheet of graph paper that is torn about 2/3rds of the way down the screen to reveal an underwater scene with a single goldfish and a friendly narwhal. The narwhal is green, entering the screen from the right, and has a human face with big round eyes and tall upper teeth in an exuberant smile. Behind a wooden sign that reads "More Games" and is held up by a single string in the left corner there is a single goldfish peeking out. At the bottom are three bubbles, one with a gear in it, one with a newspaper in it, and the last with a tag that reads "Store". In the middle of the screen is another bubble with the word play in a slightly overlapping narrow cartoonish font. The game title appears stacked above this bubble with "Badly Drawn" in a yellow hand drawn cartoony title case font with a black drop shadow and "Logos" in all caps purple metallic sans serif font. To the left of logos is a small rectangle taped to the paper with the words "Remove Ads" in a green font similar to the title font.
The cover for the Cheaper Than The Beer 7" by Blatz, which I thought was pretty good. It is a black ink photocopy on yellow paper of a bit of a chaotic scene, naturally. In the foreground is a middle-aged, white, male-presenting person in a suit jacket making the OK sign, winking, and pointing towards the background. The background contains what I assume are members of the band in various poses cut and pasted onto a photo of a Blatz beer can. The photos are a little indistinct but one person with short hair and a t-shirt is made to look like they're lying crushed under the can and one in pants and a t-shirt with short hair is holding a guitar upside down as if to smash it on the crushed person. Just above the crushed person, it looks like a band member is creepily leaning out of a rectangular hole in the can. Just above them, a person with long hair and a dress is hanging from the rim of the can where another person with long hair and a dress is sitting smoking and the final band member is wearing a light t-shirt and pants and urinating off the side of the can onto the upside down guitar. In the top right corner is the title of the record in a lowercase bold rounded serif font. In the top left is the band logo, exactly the same as the beer logo, with a triangle and the word Blatz in front of it in a bold cursive script with a drop shadow.
Promo image for the game Spitlings, which I thought was fine. It is a collection of cubes with different mouths drawn on them running away from a central point in the city in the background. That city is tinted pink with a reflection of the sky above, which is swirling with pink goo. Several small spheres of pink goo are scattered about the path of the cubes, some stretched with motion in line with them. There are 17 total cubes, some have appendages like wings or ears, 3 have eyes instead of mouths and they are in various colors. Four are grouped together in the middle, one of whom is spitting a white sphere. There are a number of white spheres scattered about the cubes like the pink spheres. In the middle, just above the four-cube group, The game title apears in a cartoony bold white font with a thick black outline and is slightly stretched taller at the edges. The dots for the i's are pink circles, and just below the first i is a lo-fi rendering of the green cube in the middle of the screen with the tiny bat wings, large open mouth, and tiny sharp teeth.
The cover for the Astro Zombies / Sound Bite House split 7", which I thought was bad. It is a black and white photocopy cover with the band name in all caps typewriter font around the border many times. The main image is of two cyclopses, I think? The bottom half is a huge round face with maybe tiny train cars in a repetitive circular pattern surrounding it. The face has a lot of texture, a single human eye in the middle and a grotesque mouth kind of like the one from the Mouth of Sauron in the extended cut of Return of the King. The top cyclops is much smaller and has less human features like maybe an octopus head and a fish mouth. Behind it is an x of picket fences or something and above that is a strange design of alternating small and tall rectangles. Weird. The record logo is a little Edgar Allen Poe in a rectangle in the bottom left and the address appears below it. In the bottom right a small rectangle reads "Distributed by Rotten Roll Records".
The record cover for the Sunglasses at Night single by Corey Hart, which I thought was not great. It is a picture of a white dude, presumably Corey Hart, in a white collared shirt that is mostly unbuttoned, doing a 1980's cool collar pop while wearing sunglasses. The background is maybe the side of a building but probably a photo studio. The top left corner has a red dashed outlined box with Corey Hart stacked in tall all caps sans serif red font with Sunglasses at Night in a cool brush stroke font in title case at an angle between his first and last name. What more do you need?
The cover for the record The In by The Black Black Black, which I thought was not great. It is a mostly white cover with an image of a standing and yelling bear on the left side. From the bear's open mouth is a cool 3-D motion effect like the band name is emanating form the bear's scream. The band name itself is in a thick sans serif blocky font where the C looks like Pac Man and the A is a solid triangle. The words are various shades of purple, with the first and last word being dark purple, the first black being a mid purple, and the second black being kind of pink, actually.
The cover for the Couldn't Keep Up 7" by Bat Boy, which I thought was fine. It is a pink background with a black and white photo of two people doing some amateur chiropractor stuff. One person lifting a male-presenting person by their folded arms and leaning back. The lifter seems to have a rolled up sleeve hoodie on and the liftee has a white t-shirt. They are in what appears to be a parking lot, standing in front of a parked economy car and an SUV with bicycles on the back is in the background. The band name is above the photo in hand-drawn 3-D all caps sans serif letters and the record title is in hand-drawn black title case cursive letters in a white box.
