The GCDP thanks the Democratic Representatives of Guilford County for standing strong and voting to uphold the Governor’s veto. We appreciate them for representing the people. We are truly dismayed about the Democrats in other counties who voted with Republicans to destroy the democratic process and the rights of people in NC. We call on every Democrat in the NC House to uphold the upcoming override votes.
The House just passed Trump's budget bill, which promises to strip 17 million people of their health care and puts more than 100 rural hospitals in jeopardy of closing. They have done all of this so that the richest Americans can get a larger tax break. The GCDP condemns this action in the strongest possible terms and vows to fight hard to defeat Virginia Foxx, Addison McDowell, and Richard Hudson in 2026 and Ted Budd when his term ends. We encourage everyone to volunteer with us and to attend all rallies and protests possible- continue to pressure all of our Congresspeople, including Thom Tillis, by calling, emailing, and writing letters or postcards. Let's get fired up folks, it's time to take action!

The bill now goes back to the House. The GCDP is heart broken over the loss of life in the Middle East. We hold the Israeli, Palestinian and Iranian people in our thoughts. We sincerely hope that the leaders of all countries involved act circumspectly with true integrity and honesty.
Volunteer picnic at Barber Park Sunday May 18 3-5 pm. A free picnic for all current and new volunteers for 2025, sponsored by candidates for municipal elections, 2026 midterms, and newly elected officials! They will also be there to meet you!
