Table 1 shows that in resolving SNPs kbo, mummer, shred, and SKA achieve sensitivities of 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, and 0.48 respectively, while achieving precisions 0.32, 0.14, 0.16, and 0.05. Table 2 shows that kbo, mummer, and shred all achieve a sensitivity of 1.0 in resolving INDELs, and have precisions of 0.26, 0.09, and 0.09. SKA is not shown because it does not resolve INDELs.

The key point in the figure is that the matching statistics can become negative for long gaps, and that jumps from low values to high values (when read right to left) indicate regions where the query has changed relative to the reference. Zeros flanked by 1 to the right and a high value to the left are special and signify a single-nucleotide substitution or insertion.
