Dwarf planet Eris situated near Pluto in the Kuiper Belt. Discovered in 2005, its atmosphere freezes into snow when it is farther from the Sun and thaws when it gets closer. Eris is slightly smaller than Pluto, but more massive. (Southwest Research Institute)
