The first of the doublet was Mw 7.2, 24 km ENE of the city of San Felipe. The second, at Mw 7.5 almost three times stronger than the first, struck 39 s later 23 km SE of the town of Yumare.

The fault-plane solutions for these quakes are consistent with steeply dipping strike-slip faults, which makes sense given the geodynamic setting of northern Venezuela. The first quake has been localised to 10.387°N 68.520°W, at a depth of 21.9 km. The second was at 10.453°N, 68.514°W, 10 km deep.
Is there a better way to share logarithmic data that is easier for lay people to parse? I wonder how many people would know that a m7.5 quake is 3x more powerful than a m7.2? Thanks for stating that, btw!
