I tend to enter more smaller races because my main aim at a race is the time. I also find the smaller races are a lot cheaper.

I like both and feel like having the benefits of both into one event would be ideal, but if I have to pick, then small event #RunChat

A3: small race. I prefer my space, and I’m at a point in my running life that I don’t require the crowds cheering that I used to. #runchat

I think the excitement and adrenaline rush of running in a huge event makes it the favorite. But I also have enjoyed running with my football team and fellow coaches in a community 5K where all the spectators are people who know you and are cheering for you no matter where you finish.

Having done both, I choose the middle. 😆 smaller community event, or even just a midsized race somewhere else. But big like NYC? No thank you! #runchat

#RunChat A3: Small, community event every time. Like a cheap inflatable starting arch and dessert potluck

A3) Probably a small community event, I prefer fewer hassles for a race. #runchat

A3: This one is tough. The small community events are fun because they are so personal but the big events have so much energy. However, some small events can be cliquish if you're not a part of the group, so I think B wins. #runchat

Small community races usually but one big event every few years. I hate getting slowed down in large events.

A3) Need more context. I enjoy both, so it just depends on the race itself #runchat

A3: both. Sometimes the large events are great because of support, but smaller events are ones where I tend to meet new friends. #runchat

A: small community race! 💯 See some running friends, less stress for parking situation, usually costs less #runchat

Q3) small community race. I like bumping into friends and people from the local community. #runchat

A3-depends on the vybe and distance, probably prefer solitude more but a good crowd or all day thing is fun sometimes

A3: This is really hard! I love the small and comfortable feel of community races and they are mostly what I run, however there is something SO special about running in massive numbers. It motivates me more. #runchat

A3: That's a tough one. They both have benefits. Love our HUGE hometown Columbus Marathon, but the smaller races are fun, too. Maybe one big race a year and smaller ones the rest of the time. #runchat

Hmm… I run so many ultras that I feel like I’m always running small community events. I think I prefer the camaraderie of the smaller events that gets lost in larger ones.

A3: I've done both and each has its merits. However, "A: small community race" typically has the best post-race food because it tends to be homemade goodies. #RunChat
