Because it was confusing and phrased as “built a resort on protected land” Plus it was a stupid thing to have to vote on. If people don’t understand a ballot Q they vote status quo.
Because it was worded to sound like the state wanted to find some rich assholes' ski facilities
I read that the sports complex had already illegally expanded. Seemed icky to reward a company that wasn't operating in good faith.
I voted yes but the "build winter sports facilities on what is currently protected forest land" probably angered people. Knowing the details it's an obvious yes, but if I were just voting based on what I read in the proposal itself that line might have scared me off.
The initiative is confusing in that it’s really a referendum to legalize the as built construction of the Olympic structures.
Everyone I know who voted no, didn’t realize the land was already built on, and thought this meant giving it away
