The Steam Machine represents a vision of a console with fewer restrictions and an almost endless catalog of games — for those willing to spend at least $1,049, nearly twice the price of a PlayStation 5. Read our review from @seanhollister.bsky.social: www.theverge.com/games/952765...

Ah the rampocalypse Strikes again. Que lástima.

Overrated. Better off buying just buying a budget PC you can upgrade down the line, and Dual Boot SteamOS.

Ryan · Jun 22

They should have named it the “Steam Engine”.

@aigeniewishes.bsky.social · Jun 22

Nope. Just get a PC.

How much of this pricing is caused by Tariffs, Iran and AI sucking up all the GPUs?

Joey P · Jun 22

Lol 1050 is actually less than I expected

J · Jun 22

I'd buy this before a PS5 Pro or PS6. Rapidly losing faith PlayStation.

Goldprofit · Jun 22

That price is crazy. Fuck data centers and this AI bullshit.

adamantly · Jun 22

my five year old xbox was half the price and can probably still run laps around this thing. but i appreciate the design and love when valve does hardware so i hope they iterate on the steam machine more or something to give a reason to buy. i’d still rather get the Framework desktop over this

Le Sigh…

Doctor Synth · Jun 23

Why not buy a PC at that point?

Take care of your hardware people clean it love it like a family member you might not be able to afford a replacement lol 😆 😄 😅

Axiom in Autarky · Jun 22

The future of gaming looks bleak. Hardware means little with AI Slopification of the actual games. I do hope Steam figures out that some restrictions are acceptable. It's crazy how much malicious code gets uploaded to Steam as a game. Never happens to actual console gamers.

News Junkie · Jun 23

Does it cost so much due to its sleek design and color scheme?

Bad Hombre · Jun 22

$1000 for a console is insane.
