Tons of academics teaching undergrads about monetary crises (without good knowledge in many cases) and development boondoggles. Even big ethics profs like Peter Singer.

Lots of undergrads, starting around 2000, and especially after the Iraq War, encountered intro classes teaching this material, usually through a documentary or memoir, without context about Reagan-Thatcher and the Consensus. Definitely without context about international currency and debt!
