Threded rob printers were not replaced by lazer cut plywood. To this day the Prusa i3 decendants are still made of threaded rods.

I really need to fire up my old Flashforge Creator Pro but I think I'd need to update its hardware to Klipper first since I don't think its slicer works on modern Macs

This is so cool. I have a friend with an ancient Flashforge Finder that only does PLA and very slowly. Retro 3D printing! :)
