I've implemented OpenRewrite recipes to automate most of the migration process. All free and open source. You can run them with the Arconia CLI or use the OpenRewrite Gradle/Mavens plugin.

OpenRewrite is exactly the kind of automation that feels boring in the best way: codified migration knowledge, reviewable diffs, and less tribal memory during framework upgrades.
