I started drawing six weeks ago, practicing a little every day. I'm not that good but I enjoy doing it. Here are some of my recent drawings

I love your art!

Roger Bridgman · Sep 27

These are very nice drawings. Stick with it. Remember to spend 80% of your time looking at the subject and only 20% at your drawing.

Elise B. · Sep 27

Looks very good to me.

Rob Boyte · Sep 27

Ur Drawings are good. I did well in HS art class, 1960-62, talent that I seldom pursued since. Then in 1977 wanted to record common plants seen in India, so got newsprint tablets & pencils & started drawing. It was a meditation. Saw plants move while drawing them. Did 62 while there. Mexican Poppy.

I think you're much to critical of self, of course I'm not an art critic, I think they're really good. Keep up the good works as long as U find joy in them, they signify to me, peace, serenity, solace.

Pass_On_X · Sep 27

Oh, no.. you are good. Take it from an aspiring art teacher. It isn't something you are born with. You just have to dig in and try it. Drawing, painting, whatever. If you love it you are making art. I mean, look at Warhol, Picasso, Pollock and Dali! Your eork is technical Michelango level!

"I'm not that good" (posts excellent drawings that are immediately recognizable and have artistic flair)

@gurrrl5280.bsky.social · Sep 27

One trick you can try: Turn the drawing upside down. You see it from a fresh perspective, so you'll recognize what needs some attention. Enjoy the process and the result!

@noiseysprite.bsky.social · Sep 27

....practicing a little every day.... I enjoy doing it.... And there's the best art advice right there in your post. Want a time machine so I can see your post that says "I started drawing two years ago..." take a pic and bring it back to show you. Keep that practice up and the pic will astonish

RomneyTM · Sep 27

Drawing is a personal thing. You don’t have “to be good at it,” the fact that you love doing it means you’ve discovered the magic. Enjoy pages and pages of sketches in your journals, you don’t need to share or compare. Just get in the zone and draw because you love it. Good for you!

Jose Canyusi · Sep 27

Enjoying it is good enough…..

George Spiggott · Sep 27

As often as not I draw to hear the sounds I make while doing it. The same with painting. It's the movement of the paint more so than the outcome. Keep it going.

Tracey M · Sep 27

Well, I’m impressed. These pictures look great, and bravo to you for starting something new! I recently joined an adult offshoot of my kid’s cartooning class, and I’m planning to participate in Inktober. Will you do that?

@isogsargent.bsky.social · Sep 27

U R good tho, these are solid

Ottery St Chocolat · Sep 27

Niiiiiiiiice. I try to draw every day and more importantly I try to learn with every thing I do. It takes time but it’s worth it. Good luck 🍀.

@lovescts.bsky.social · Sep 27

I was an Art History major and my prof said I was one of the worst students he had ever had! I told him I was interested in the history of art and not in actually learning how to be an artist. He said I was wasting my time.

FreyaLibertas · Sep 28

Actually, you're doing great. Keep drawing! And isn't it relaxing?

TinaMarie Triliegi-The Flower Child · Sep 27

Good precision, well done. If you ever have the curiosity to explore the book by Betty Edwards "Drawing on the right side of the brain" it is worth exploring.

Barbm368🇨🇦🙏 · Sep 27

Emily · Sep 27

I like them a lot, especially the mountains. How do you find inspiration and are you taking a course? I would like to start doing this as well but I struggle with motivation and inspiration.

SirronRex · Sep 27

Not that good? You need to slay a dragon. Your ego tells you, you’re not good. Slay that dragon, because you, your talent as an artist, is very obvious. You are an artist. And you are good at it. Stop believing otherwise.

✨Hecate✨ · Sep 27

It’s not about being good, it’s about the journey of creation.

I have a series of what started as a couple lines, each page progressing until it ends with a tree. Strange that I kept it. I drew them all in high school. Your tree reminded me of them.

@hi-schoolsub.bsky.social · Sep 27

As an artist for 65 years my advice is to just be you – forget about being better, because that path can take you into other artists visions, not yours, which ultimately is false. Continue what you're doing now. They're superb

That Artist · Sep 27

No one starts out being able to draw. You draw because you love to draw and that’s why you’ll get better and better at it. Keep drawing!! Looks fantastic!!

Paul Murray · Sep 27

Pretty good! Keep practicing and you’ll keep improving. Drawing has a vocabulary, which you can learn by looking at the drawings of others: eg, when drawing a cylinder ( tree trunk, arm, bottle ) remember to curve your lines, to give tge illusion of volume… Keep gojng!

NoMIMA · Sep 27

These are great! Had you drawn before this? Taken any art classes? How did you begin?

Zachary Beasley · Sep 27

I’m an artist as well. I started when I was only 3 years old. I consider myself ok not an expert. It depends on what I put my mind to drawing. Sometimes my drawings change as I’m drawing them into another piece. Drawing ✍🏼 wood 🪵 such as trees, grains or nature is easy. Every branch is different.

Stephen Knight · Sep 27

Are these digitally created? How did you draw them?

@frenchie-66.bsky.social · Sep 27

It is about how a person’s mind interprets objects, then expressed on any media really. It seems with great memorable artists you see more about the artist than the subject.

lisa♡ · Sep 27

You are really good I esp like the tree

Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards is a good book, for everyone, but especially for beginners. It helps you look at things differently when you’re drawing. I found it really helpful.

PaulinaCrystine · Sep 27

Robert · Sep 27

Very nice. Do you experiment by yourself, or do you use tutorials?

John F Simon Jr · Sep 27

Benumbed · Sep 27

Carrie Bullock · Sep 27

Listen to Rick Ruben. Create art for YOU. That's where it comes alive. Don't worry about creating for others and whether they'll like it or not- it matters not.

Mystalope · Sep 27

My eldest daughter started drawing everyday at the age of around 11. She wasn’t a natural, by any means, she just enjoyed it. She’s a highly skilled illustrator and artist now, with both traditional and digital media. If you enjoy it, and do a little everyday, you will get better.

The Chrome Onion · Sep 27

Keep it up, and never be hard on yourself. Just draw and enjoy.

@bonniekas.bsky.social · Sep 27

Kathy McCarty · Sep 27

Drawing is a skill like any other and can be learned Just like learning to roof a house or prepare meatloaf

Rogue Raven · Sep 27

An art teacher told us a trick, he would have us use a mirror to look at our drawing from different perspectives and distances. When you are too close for too long at the same angle you sometimes lose the actual image you were going for.

Kim · Sep 27

Good on you! It’s a great skill to have, and one that most can learn if they put their minds to it and commit to it. You can probably already tell the difference from where you started six weeks ago.

@mseviechops.bsky.social · Sep 27

They’re great. I began watercolours a couple of months ago and it’s the most therapeutic thing I’ve done in a very long time.

Leslie · Sep 27

Well done. Practice is everything. I’m an Artist , but have taken a few months off. I need to push myself.

SinisterTipToe · Sep 27

“Not that good” is just a matter of perspective. For starting six weeks ago, you’re doing great! 🙃

Struward🇨🇦 · Sep 27

Any kind of art is good for you…

TeeSue · Sep 27

They are good! I'm trying to learn to draw too!

@merrillandia.bsky.social · Sep 27

It's a skill. Both physical with hand/eye coordination and the visual ability to convert three dimensions into two dimensions. It is learnable with practice. "Talent" has to do with interpretation and communication. That comes after attaining the skill.

@jsonleo.bsky.social · Sep 27

“Good” is relative. Your artwork is superior to pieces hanging in some galleries. Congrats on the progress!!
