Time Rival @timerival.net · Dec 5 Uploading my new album "Encoded" to my distributor today and I had the opportunity to hear a sample of their Mixea "enhancement" option. To my ears it makes it incredibly bright and overcompressed. That may work for some genres but for ambient it's laughable how much worse the "enhancement" is

These types of options are predatory. Distributors (distrokid ect.) offer similar options trying to cash in on smaller artists insecurities.
I've always felt slightly insulted by that option. Like, buddy, I know how to mix my stuff!
I think it sounds abysmal. I wouldn’t use it.

All distributors do this now, it's just a money grab.
Yep. Don’t think Ai is so good with the creative arts like music.
AI mastering has been around for at least 10 years and it still sucks. They haven't made it out of the weird hands era yet. I will always prefer using my ears.
