The various oddities of certain prominent Nazis aside, Germany was most certainly a Western Christian civilization if that phrase has any meaning whatsoever, to say nothing of Italy.
This just flatly states that he says it wasn't about defending freedom, it was about defending freedom. Like. It's just definitionally contradictory.
