One of my favorite books is Tree Dogs, Banshee Fingers and Other Irish Words for Nature by Manchán Magan. It's a delightful and poetic account of how Irish captures community knowledge. Comfrey, a plant still very common in herbal medicine — is "lus na gcnámh briste", the plant of broken bones.
