Had an interesting conversation on how to evaluate pain in dementia. Does evaluation of pain require spoken language? During anestesia we look at blood pressure and pulse We have PAINAD meter which detects uneasiness. But the key is observing. You might see uneasiness, ackward muscle tension or protective ways to move. This is The Wounded Angel by Hugo Simberg, it is possible to see the nonspoken suffering.
