Twilight RCAF CH-146 Griffon #146469 at the 2026 Barrie Airshow. The fading light made for a pastel yellow sky, just as the sun had set at ground level, but not yet in the sky where high level clouds were still showing some colour.

It's a late #warbirdwednesday post with warbirds at the end of the day - Victory Flight Hawker Hurricane, P-51D Mustang, and Spitfire fly in formation at the 2026 Barrie Airshow as the last rays of light hit the warbirds before dark. Nearby storms resulted in some moody clouds to add to the effect.

The CF Snowbirds complete a flypast and a Maple Split over LeBreton Flats in Ottawa on Canada Day. The second pass occurred shortly before building storms rolled in and generated the second wettest day in Ottawa on records going back to the 1800s with over 110mm of rain fall.
Shoutout as well to @porterairlines YTZ > YOW #PD2267 for photobombing one of the passes of the RCAF CF-18 Hornet getting refueled by the CC-150 Polaris during the World Cup Patrol, that was pretty cool to see in the same frame! #fifaworldcup
Keeping with the #fifaworldcup theme, over today's Panama vs. Croatia game was RCAF CC-150 Polaris 15004, but thanks to the time of day the tanker had some spectacular red and orange tones as the sun set and the moon rose, including this wonderful pass in front of the moon.
Over the Germany vs. Côte d'Ivoire #FIFAWorldCup game in Toronto today was the RCAF CC-150 Polaris 15004 and a pair of CF-18 Hornets on patrol over the world cup. Pictured are some of the aerial refueling operations over the City of Toronto! The fair weather today meant that this was the best opportunity to see an aerial refueling over Toronto since NORAD's Operation NOBLE EAGLE occurred over the city on July 30, 2020.

The CT-114 Tutor has entered the twilight of its career. It was announced that this will be the final season of the RCAF Snowbirds in the CT-114 Tutor after 55 years of displays. The fleet will transition to the CT-157 Siskin II, based off of the Pilatus PC-21 some time in the early 2030s. Will you see them one last time this year?

2 years ago today - the Total Solar Eclipse of April 8, 2024, seen by millions of Americans and Canadians. Earlier, I had shared the composite view, but what if you wanted to see the stages up close? That is what this thread is for.

And a third post for today because NASA's Artemis II has launched! Here is a picture of the biggest NASA object I have ever taken a picture of, the SOFIA Telescope from when it touched down at Edwards AFB in 2022, not long before its retirement at PIMA Air & Space Museum.
Today is also the day the RCAF celebrates their birthday, so pictured is a RCAF CH-148 Cyclone with the Canadian flag being hoisted below over Lake Ontario at the Canadian International Air Show from 2019! Visible in the haze is the William Lyon Mackenzie fireboat.
The 1920s and 1930s were a pioneering time in aviation. Here, the Fairchild FC-71C used big feet and flappy wings to get a running start on takeoff and landings. Kidding! Its function was to be a flying pickup truck, ferrying construction and crew to remote destinations across Canada. This particular example is found in the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada.

Today's feature is the Gulf Island Seaplanes De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver C-FHRT, fresh after a sea-based take off. Do you have a favourite paint on a DHC-2 Beaver? This one is up there for me! The Beaver is orange and grey with white floats.
#ThrowbackThursday to the time I got a glimpse at Stratolaunch's ROC, the largest aircraft by wingspan in Mojave, 2022. Mounted on the centre wing is one of the Talon hypersonic jets. I wonder when this massive bird will fly next?
