Spicy literally comes from having to find ways around auto moderation. Spice level is built in to the rating system on Fable, for example, because it's become so widespread. Also, I find it kind of narrow that so many people write off books with sex in them whenever so many of them talk about complex trauma in victims of SA and child SA. Yeah, there's absolutely regular degular porn out there— but writing off an entire group of books that fit into multiple genres because it has romance and sex is just.... Cringe.
