Email I wrote in support of RI Bill S2278: I am writing to express my ardent support for S2278. RI needs to take the right course at this critical juncture in history. It is our moral & political duty to refuse to work with ICE, to prohibit all collaboration with their agents. It is time to recognize that the wanton detention & deportation of undocumented people, immigrants, refugees & citizens is a crime against humanity which tears apart families, destroys lives, endangers children & kills innocent people. Indeed, future generations will judge us by how we react to the unlawful & immoral use of force against those who seek asylum in our country: will we give ICE free rein to do as they please in RI or will we refuse to cooperate? History will not look fondly upon us if we pass up this opportunity to do what is just. To this end, the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility must IMMEDIATELY terminate its contract with ICE. To accomplish this we need to pass bill S2278 as speedily as possible.
