This was, simply put, the eradication of trans people from the country's social fabric. Most people cannot take a job if they have to out themselves to their colleagues whenever they need the loo. They will not go to a restaurant or the theatre or attend trade union meetings or go to church or see their child in a school play. The toilet issue is at once stupefyingly banal and yet existential.

So they would come for a forehead surgery. So my idea is that, of course, if in the future patients would be able to get these blockers soon, what would decrease is the amount of procedures they need, you know, for sure.
And this is where we understood what we think is feminization. We published that, and we mainly work with three pillars, which is always working with hidden incisions, because we are talking about patients sometimes that are 18 years old, not 19. You don't want to do a surgery on someone that wants to blend in society and leave scars. So we want to have hidden incisions. The second pillar is to keep a natural result, because again, we are talking about patients that are most of the time very young. You don't want them to look artificial, like they had surgery. And the third pillar is to keep core identity. And these are the main things that we work around.

Once the voice is modified, developed into something the person's happy with and comfortable with, it should stick for life. It's not something you have to keep paying for, like gym or or membership, and so in that way I think it's very good value for money.

the first time in my life, I go to a coffee shop and I order myself rather than asking my boyfriend to order for me. You know, these are like simple, simple things that we take for granted as a cis person and it's a daily struggle for a trans person. So it's a huge impact and it's the small things that make all the difference. It's just like when you start talking and somebody gives you that second look, you know, oh, you know that feeling? Yeah, we know that. You're preaching to the choir. I know I've never ever experienced that feeling, you know, and I can't imagine how that, but that, that disappears, you know, like it's these small things that make a huge difference.
