he is of course correct that soccer here being an expensive hobby for suburban kids is bad; people have been saying this for 40 years. but "everywhere else on earth" is not the favelas of rio; many u.s. stars are products of elite european academies (balogun/arsenal, dest/ajax, pulisic/dortmund)...
It's also like a complete fabrication lmao The kids that come through in Europe went through fancy academy systems and a lot of other countries use dual-nats that did the same We don't have a proper coaching system and our best athletes play other sports. Our academy system was largely nonexistent
