But those qualities that Galileo took out of the material world still exist somewhere and must still be accounted for somehow. If the spicy taste of the paprika isn't really in the paprika then where is it? Galileo thought it was in the soul, but if we don't want to believe in souls then we need to find a place in the natural world for the sensory qualities.'
