There's a meme that's like "Tired of looking at bad screen/ Can't wait to go home and look at good screen." Our eyes strain against the light. We find it funny, but don't laugh. Still, we type lol. lol as punctuation, a refrain. I have to work late, lol. For the bare necessities like health insurance we have to sacrifice our health and real wealth. Our hips, our necks, our lungs. Our life's own blood. lol. I stumble into bed and stare at the ceiling as pain wracks my body. lol. So silly to yearn for purpose. For something other than doing the same shit every day. For generating true value that could help someone who really needs it. But lol. El oh el. lol. That can't happen. Time to get up for work. The Bad Screen is waiting.

DON'T HESITATE Mary Oliver If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don't hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed or about to be. We are not wise, and not very often kind. And much can never be redeemed. Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this is its way of fighting back, that sometimes something happens better than all the riches or power in the world. It could be anything, but very likely you notice it in the instant when love begins. Anyway, that's often the case. Anyway, whatever it is, don't be afraid of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.
A sort-of-poem by me that reads: The days are getting longer now. My right ear clogs up when I lie on that side. It is my favorite side to lie on. A neighbor just asked me if I’m okay. I lied and said it was allergies. Today I gave up my bench for a family in the park because the other one was covered in dirt and bird shit. This spring is early and feels unearned. But the dusk is beautiful. I looked up at the pale waxing moon as I walked my dog. When I looked down, he’d gotten to a stray turd and was going to town. At least he seems happy today. For him, time is fixed. For me, it warps and confuses.
