Timeline of Biology at University of Toronto since 1843, modified from ‘A History of the Department of Zoology by E Horne Craigie’.(1965). In 1853, Natural History split from Chemistry and Geology, becoming Biology in 1887. Biology split into many departments, some joining the Faculty of Medicine (Physiology, Pathology, Anatomy). Since 1940, Botany and Zoology were in the Faculty of Arts & Science. Botany and Zoology merged in 2006 and split to become Cell & Systems Biology and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
