Perhaps you should know facts as opposed to Googling sites that will tell you things that aren't true.
1) The Reagan Library is hardly an unbiased source. Reagan didn't repeal the FD, the FCC did under bi-partisan direction. Reagan vetoed an attempt to codify it.

And the FD only applied to local broadcast.

Repealing the Fairness Doctrine gave news stations (especially cable) they first amendment right to say what ever they hell they wanted. So...they no longer had to tell the truth.
