Footsteps lead to the foreground, where a space suit-clad figure kneels, hunched over with a hand gripping the face of their helmet. Though their face and body are fully obscured by the space suit, the viewer can (hopefully!) infer that the astronaut is distressed. This may be because they have just discovered a floating grave marker in the middle of an empty, lifeless desert.
