And the previous audio issue was the classic bad headphone jack.
The second board is fully working now. It wouldn't boot if a screen was inserted. Found a short on the power regulator so I reflowed that area (one of the caps there looked like it was tombstoned after someone bumped it replacing a shoulder)
Net improvement on one board, reflowing the ram and CPU got it to boot into games. Audio is still broken
