& yeah I'm not too keen on the official one either, i don't fault the artist too much considering m was designed & seen as a one-off spoof at that point and not a fully realized character. that doesn't mean her design is not inherently reinforcing the greater concept of the feminine image being defined as the altering of a "default" masculine form (see "digital girls & the taxidermy of the female image"). BUT I DIGRESS. She deserves to be cute in a robot way and not be tied to unrealistic feminine standards. #reading comprehension: i am not saying jericho is being a misogynist on purpose. i am pointing out that mirage's design plays into the same #-tropes that many anime/VNs play into wherein femininity and “gender bends” are designed with cishet male sex appeal in mind- #-by nature of being a spoof of that genre. similar to D/D/L/C.

I somewhat understand the criticism of the writing, but very like its influence FLCL, unbeatable's story is about the emotion of what is being conveyed and sometimes that means the pacing is jarringly fast in regards to plot and you're asked to read between the lines for side character development, because that's been pared away to get at the meat of the huge feelings within the story. i don't think this thing NEEDED a massive expositiondump for every bit of lore behind, like, treble and clef, because you get enough shorthand to fill in the gaps. it's not for everyone, but I think it works.
