I know commenters here are blasting you for the price, but I’m gonna blast you for not including a controller with all the models. It’s WILD to release a set top box without a controller included.
I was really hoping to see a Frame announcement to know pricing as to whether I can easily pick up one or both; The Machine will be a gift for the fam library, but the Frame I'll be using myself thus not having adequate advance knowledge has made this a bit difficult to plan properly :F

Man, I love Valve as a company, but the Steam Machine is just too pricey at the current moment. I really think Valve should have taken a tiny subsidization and released it at 999 w/o controller and bundled some games with it to justify a high price.

its expensive sure, but ill definitely be getting it while saving up for a proper pc. unlike just getting another £1000 pc id actually want to keep this alongside my future main pc to play games on the tv and stuff

I'm exactly the guy you wanted to buy one. I love everything Valve stands for in gaming. But the cost is too high. My opinion (not that you asked for it): it would have been better to have been delayed until RAM prices were lower and more powerful compobents to get better bang for the buck.

Does desktop mode support the gyro to mouse for Steam Controller?
It's pretty weak and expensive compared to what's out there for powerful budget mini PCs and much smaller in scale such as GMKtec's line of powerful budget friend mini PCs for example.
We want physical discs with the entire games shipped on disc no compromises and no special requirements like the online connection requirement whatsoever.
Sorry dawg. I ride pretty hard for Valve, but today's prices are waaay too much for too little, so I assume it's gonna fail and hope prices drop as you revise the components for a relaunch where it can actually compare to a PS5 Pro instead of barely base. Controller still slaps tho

It was powerful THREE years ago.
Everyone crying that it's too expensive, price out some hardware. When factoring in just component costs, the profit margins are pretty slim. Then factor in everything else like manufacturing, shipping, delivery, and warehousing.

I wanted to get this, but I don't need it and at that price I can't trick myself into getting it. Here's hoping the price of the Frame will make it easier to trick myself... not holding out too much hope though.

I'm looking forward to it. People whining about the price forget that Xbox/PS are subsidized loss-leaders, not to mention the huge increase in component prices recently. This isn't a replacement for ridiculous uber-gamer rigs. This is meant to be like a console: Small, optimized, & convenient.

I mean, cool and quiet maybe, but, powerful isn't really a term most people have associated with this thing. I tell you what it DEFINITELY is though, which is painfully expensive.
Shame it's priced poorly versus pretty much every alternative.
