A little silicone spray helps before speakers get this bad. Helps keep them flexible.

Back in the mid 1970s, I put an 8-track player in my Dad's 68 Barracuda, driving 6x9s in the rear. Blew the output transistors playing Ironman by Black Sabbath at high volume. Replaced the transistors with better (thanks to Radio Shack) and kept rocking.

Polk audio always made nice mids for the money in my opinion. I liked my 4.5's and 6x9's quite a lot in my car.

Re-foamed the rear speaker in my lexus. Unfortunately not all speakers have a replacement available

Too much bass?

The stock subs on my SHO were eaten by mice. I replaced them with Infinity subs with reinforced cone material. The last ones that tore like that were in a Chevy Malibu.
