A short story written about my OC, Markus. It's 200 words long. Text: Markus is accustomed to mistrust. Not from others, not particularly, but from theirself. Some days are easy— they work their first job, security at a somewhat popular nightclub, then they patrol the city for their real job as a member of the Belito. That's the end of it. They go home, happy, to their comfy couch and their streaming services. Other days, though, they lie awake in bed and think: "Am I good enough?" They try not to think. They work their jobs, they smile at their friends, they keep it light and cheerful and fun at all times, every day. Markus gives the people what they've come to expect, because if they keep it up, then maybe, just maybe... they won't see what lies beyond the mask. They won't see the way Markus' hands shake. They won't see the twitch of their jaw, or the crick in their smile. They won't stare into Markus' eyes and see all the cracks in their walls, all the uncertainty and darkness that bleeds into their gaze like a sickness. "Will I ever be good enough?" They say to theirself, constantly, when no one is watching. No one ever answers.

a khris/markus story scenario: the two meet in one of the belito's training facilities (usually underground) to spar. it has been a while since they have done something like this, too busy with their own teams and lives. it starts as just a fun fight meant to blow off steam, but it turns into them wrestling-- no magic, no weapons, just body on body. they're both filled with adrenaline and tension, and by the end of it, khris has markus pinned to the ground. the two of them stare at each other, panting, and they come to realize something in this moment -- that their friends with benefits relationship is a lie. they have the chemistry, the attraction, the tension. markus has been hiding those strong romantic feelings for a while, now, but khris finally realizes the depth of his own.
