It turns leaves brown/rotten & ruins fruit on the vine. To stop it: 🍅 Water only the soil (not the leaves) 🍅 Space plants out for good airflow 🍅 Remove lower leaves 🍅 Trim & destroy infected parts ASAP (don't compost!)

Very sad. One of my tomato plants was hit with blight for the first time in over 10 years. I sprayed the plant with a copper based fungicide as well as picking off truly gone leaves.
The fungus #Phytophthora infestans requires you to space out your tomato plants and to follow your steps. I would recommend sterilizing your pruners before using on healthy plants.
In the PNW we call it “late blight” and it breaks my heart when thriving vines full of big unripe tomatoes turn black and die in the space of a few days. Supposedly there are resistant varieties but IDK how well they do.
