a screenshot of a passage of text it reads: "[mirrored here from https://vekon.newgrounds.com/news/post/1633481] let me be real - i want to make money with my music. i want to allow my craft to give me the financial means to survive. i definitely have fans and followers, i have you all, and i'm immensely grateful for you all being here. even then, i admit that that's not enough to pay my bills. however, in my case, i wonder how much of my lack of success is due to me unintentionally working against myself right now i give away most of my music for free - my idea was to first let the lack of cost get my music into ears, to build fans and followers. afterwards, my main goal was to direct listeners to a subscription to access exclusive music and to support me. i have had nearly no success with this, no subscribers, no paying patrons, just one commission and some small purchases here and there, which isn't enough. i certainly have built a following, but this strategy clearly isn't working i've heard advice from family and friends to start charging for my music. should i start charging a price for my music again? should i force others to pay to enjoy my creations? should i abandon my aversion to marketing and accept it as a means of survival? i really would hate to do that, i grew up in a scene that encouraged collecting and enjoying music for free and that scene is very much alive on NG, but that's clearly not translating into financial success for us creators. who, if anyone, would be unhappy with me putting a price tag on my music? would that in itself harm my success? what do you all think? feel free to leave your thoughts. thank you so much <3"

(screenshot of the body of a blog post on my Newgrounds page) hi all, i have some fairly important news: first, all of the non-Dreamer releases on my Bandcamp are now PWYW: https://vekon.bandcamp.com/ so go ahead and grab some free music if you want! i haven't sold many individual releases and considering my dense release schedule i hope that offering a subscription service there and on Patreon will be more beneficial and fair for both you and me another thing: alongside new music releases this year i will be remastering most of my existing discography under vekoN. atm i plan on remastering everything before Prisme. i already have some WIP remasters on my hard drive and i plan to have a few re-releases ready very soon. the truth is, not only were my older songs... not entirely representative of my vision, but also i don't believe in abandoning ideas - my discography is a continual work-in-progress. that and making a million VIPS will be weird :) the remasters will replace the existing uploads on Bandcamp and SoundCloud. once i start uploading them the older versions will be available for free here: https://vekonarxve.bandcamp.com. i'll let you all know when i replace them a few days beforehand lastly, with all this in action i'm not exactly sure what to do with the releases on the streaming platforms... my current plan is to keep them up until my distributor plan expires in July; before then i might upload the individual remastered songs myself, possibly on YouTube, ideally on some other platform... PeerTube or Funkwhale perhaps? imo i'm not keen on the big streaming platforms' ethics and financial returns anymore. i'm open to suggestions for this plan though! that's it, thanks for the continuing support and i'll see you at the next release :)
