Still. The original post was pretty damning. Even in the water stressed areas, it sounds like opening a data center might have the same impact as.. building or new mall or opening a small industrial unit. Something that we wouldn't give a second thought to.
The Bloomberg article was pretty misleading. I have a breakdown of it here. We have a lot of industries that use water in high water stress areas. Data centers haven't harmed local water access anywhere they've been built andymasley.substack.com/i/175834975/...
I don't blame individuals who use AI. I blame the tech companies who are doing this and our politicians who are not stopping them This is why the push back on AI regulations is so intense
