Please explain the reasoning behind your answers about minimum age requirements: I do not believe restricting people's access to the internet to be a valid legal or moral choice. Not only is my data harvested and used to profile me by companies and a government that promotes bigotry towards immigrants, trans people and other minorities, the age restriction does nothing whatsoever to prevent the grooming of minors and additionally can be used as a tool of domestic abusers to prevent children from accessing lifesaving resources outside their households. What do you think the impacts would be of having a minimum age requirement higher than 13 for social media services? It would do very little for children's safety at home or online, and if passed will severely negatively impact domestic life for children in abusive households (including homophobia, transphobia) and deprive them of connections outside their immediate area. It would be a tool for household abusers to restrict and control their children's lives in a way that exposes them to psychological distress that far outweighs the vast majority of internet content, and that is before we even consider other, more nuanced ways to approach safety for children, resources for parents to raise kids healthily, and holding social media accountable.

Why put the idea out there? Someone's going to build this, sooner or later. Maybe it'll look like an innocent web toy that lets you share some entertaining stats about your Twitter account, while its owner has a look through your friends' protected accounts for anything sensitive. Or maybe not. Maybe there are better ways of going phishing.
