But really the main reason I use that is because it comes with a "jig" specifically designed to do the wire trick. It looks like this:

Anyway, the tutorials for hacking your switch basically have everything ready for you and will end up creating three boot modes: A normal switch, "emumcc" and "sysnand" . Emumcc is basically a fake version of the switch firmware which runs on the SD card, and you can really go hard on modding it.
