"Eden Harley," the headstone read. "Beloved son, devoted brother, cherished friend." Understatement of the millennium, Orion thought. It was such a cheesy epitaph that Orion almost laughed, and he knew Eden would laugh, once he saw it. "Awwwww, you cherished me?" he'd simper, leaning into Orion's space, pressing all 5'8 of his dumbass self into Orion's side. He'd blink his brown eyes so wide his entire expression would warp, eyebrows comically high, lips pulling low. "No, dumbass," Orion would say, "I learned necromancy just so I could call you a bitch to your face one more time." His skin itched. But still he didn't move. He stared down the headstone, his gaze catching on the dates, and the headstone stared back. Distantly, it struck Orion that this was the closest he'd been to Eden in over a week, which was the longest they'd been apart in years. A decade of living in each other's skin and now here they were. Six feet apart. But, well. That could be changed. Orion hefted his shovel off his shoulder, driving the point down into the dirt. "Hey, babe," he said, in the same tone of voice he'd used to leave voicemails for as long as Eden'd had an answering machine. "Sorry to disturb you, but naptime's over."
