While it would provide him with a combat advantage, this aspect is what distinguishes his journey. As Dr. Abraham Erskine aptly stated, Sam, like Steve, is inherently a good man.

Indeed, the whole plot of the first captain America movie is centred around how unlike red skull he didn’t desire the power, it was his desire to protect and help that earned him the title, powers for the sake of powers is not the way.
