It's been a while so may I present another remembrance. A French battalion - the 4/132nd Ligne circa 1813 - with some regimental command lurking safely to the rear. Calpe Miniatures. Salute

The unit was painted in its entirety! ... all at once!! ... as a whole!!! ... as an experiment. A bad choice of unit for the experiment with all the lacing and piping involved. D'oh!
Time for a little more Napoleonic Polish remembrancing. This time it's the first battalion of the 2nd Infantry Regiment. Or at least how I use them. The second battalion is currently being formed. Front Rank Figurines with a GMG Designs standard.
The mounted figure is the Regimental officer wearing bicorn and open Uberock from the Prussian Line Uhlans Advancing range. The idea is that the uhlan officer has just arrived on the scene with an urgent message for the battery commander who is currently concentrating on what is to be seen through his telescope. The uhlan officer and several of the gun crew are trying to gain the battery commander’s attention but sadly this gentleman has been around 12 pounder guns too long with the result that he is a little hard of hearing!
The 3/4th East Prussian Landwehr Infantry Regiment is posed as a shot up firing line. The idea for this battalion came about due to Calpe's extended landwehr range including several casualty figures. In fact so many different casualty figures that not all of them could be utilised in the battalion! The down side of modelling a landwehr battalion as a shot up firing line is that the landwehr battalions are probably the least likely to be formed in a line during a game. One would think that column would be a much more comfortable formation for a unit learning its trade. Regardless, once the idea for the battalion had been thought it just wouldn't go away.
The Generalmajor gets a mounted adjutant to help him out, a dismounted grenadier officer to assist the humans with a visual cue that this is the command for the grenadiers. The final figure is a blue coated member of the Stabs-Infanterie who gets to wear the old helmet - even in 1813. Their duties included protection and escort details for the general headquarters & staff and acting as headquarters gendarmes in the field.
This Friday's remembrance is of a stand of later Napoleonic French Line Infantry Regimental Headquarters as provisioned by Calpe Miniatures.

Today's remembrance focusses on Prussians of the Seven Years War variety. The musketeers of Infantry Regiment 19 Markgraf Karl backed up by the fusiliers of IR 42 Markgraf Heinrich. Other bits and pieces from other regiments hovering in the edges of the image. Front Rank Figurines with the exception of the falling wounded musketeer in the second rank on the left of the image who is a Dixon Miniature.

Friday remembrancing: a Napoleonic Bavarian battalion. More precisely the 1/4th Sachsen-Hildburghausen Infantry Regiment.
Later Napoleonic Saxon artillery this time. Locally this represents the 1st Saxon Foot battery (6pdr) "Dietrich" of 1813.
An Austrian 12pdr position battery to bring some weight to my Austrian army. For some undoubtedly suspect reason I decided that all my 12 pdr batteries would be accompanied by a mounted officer. If nothing else it is an indicator/reminder on the table top.

Because the red & green has a somewhat Christmassy flavour I am happy to present a later Napoleonic Polish 6pdr Foot Battery as pictured from the delivery end.
More Napoleonics. Austrians. Generalmajor Quasdannovic's brigade. Three battalions of the Reuss-Plauen Infantry Regiment, two battalions of Albert Gyulai Infantry Regiment, a 6 pounder Foot Battery and the Generalmajor himself.
Back to the Seven Years War. These were painted so many decades ago. 😱 The 7th Driesen Kuirassier Regt alongside the 4th Katte Dragoon Regt lead by the famed Seydlitz with a helpful trumpeter from the 5th "BlacK" Hussars.

Remembrancing: Napoleonic wargaming at the Call to Arms convention in Wellington, NZ in 2007. A group of us were involved in a campaign that inevitably ended up with all the armies converging. This finale had armies arriving from all over at various times. A fun day if memory is not hallucinating! 🤓

The first 5 Warbases Casualty Markers complete. Napoleonic Austrian flavoured. Assuming one per battalion that leaves 32 left to do, not counting the unpigmented battalions in the reserves mountain. And that's also not counting the artillery or cavalry!! This will be a slow burn background tasking. I have 5 more of the Casualty Bases so thought I should order some more. Sadly they are out of stock though it is hoped that they will soon be back in stock. Apparently they are much in demand. Mutter mutter!

Today's wayback remembrance is of a 12 pounder Austrian battery for 1813 game simulations. A self promoting mounted officer has arrived coincidentally at the same time as the media pack.

Back to the Prussian Army, 1813. The 1st Leib Hussar Regiment resplendent in their black faced red and ornamental skull and cross bones. To their credit they have proved to be generally reliable troops for me on the table top which, given my leadership, is a great credit to them! 🤣

It's back to the Seven Years War for today's blast from the past. All the way from Hanover it gives me great pleasure to present the De Chausses (yellow facings) & von Ledebour (blue facings) infantry regiments.
Prussian 6 pdr foot battery #6 von Glasnapp, 1813. Calpe Miniatures bought and painted before Calpe replaced the wheels with thinner versions. I have the thinner wheels but strongly suspect that I will never disassemble the battery to retrofit them.

Today's blast from the past is Napoleonic Bavarian of nature. The 1/4th Sachsen-Hildburghausen Infantry Regiment, brigade command and poor Karl who ate some bad sausage! The blue is too light but these were painted well over decade ago when I was not so enlightened!
This arrangement created after a less than spectacularly successful game as an Austrian commander.
And now for something completely different. Well sort of! A Seven Years War Prussian command stand.
Another image from the archives. The command stand for the 1813 Napoleonic Russian grenadier brigade commanded by Colonel Acht ... of the 1st Division of Generalmajor Raevsky's 3rd(Grenadier) Corps. Of course I say 1813 but the gentlemen appear to have rushed back east to Russia for their image to be captured. What can one do?!
