I was recently made aware that NCMEC is planning on complying with recent unlawful executive orders aimed at LGBTQ+ children, especially trans children, by removing all mentions of them in publicly available materials and deadnaming trans children in reports. Trans children and queer children in general are massively more likely to be victims of sexual trafficking and sexual abuse, as well as being forced into homelessness, as I'm certain you are aware, due to the same genocidal forces now ordering you to abandon them. Removing public materials that educate about the horrors many trans and queer children face causes massive harm. It would be a failure in your duty to educate the public about these issues, and would by extension increase the danger these children face by eroding public support. I am a trans person, as are the majority of my found family. Many of them were children who were forced from what should have been loving and supportive homes onto the streets or were trapped in places that were neverending nightmares and prayed every day to any force that might listen to let them escape from them. I know that you are worried and afraid of what they might do if you resist, but abandoning us in an attempt to placate a fascist administration run by a group of people who actively celebrate sexual assault and abuse is not only ethically wrong in and of itself, but sends a clear message to this administration and to the vulnerable people you have a duty to protect that they can continue to make vile demands of you to abandon larger and larger swaths of vulnerable marginalized people until nothing is left. The only way the advance of fascism stops is when people refuse its demands. I both beg and demand of you not to give in. These orders are not even yet law, and even if they were, evil laws are not fought through obedience. Do not comply in advance, do not comply, period."
