i think their current stance is deeply flawed and bordering on hypocritical. you can't "discourage" the use of AI to contribute and request that its output respects copyright, while allowing a core maintainer to use a mainstream model like Copilot, no matter how much he downplays his usage of it.

But can they really - as a big open source project - forbid any AI usage? Isn't it utopian? I would prefer to have my beloved engine having no AI at all but is this really possible?

Technically, this is the kind of use case which doesn't compromise the code base's integrity if everything is checked and AI is used to batch rename stuff for example
