Here’s an interesting ISA sound card. The MegaImage32. Based on the Opti 82C930, it includes genuine OPL3 and QS700 wavetable. Has an IDE CD-ROM interface too. Haven’t had a chance to try it yet but it was new old stock. @16bitmanfred.bsky.social

So it turns out, or at least as far as I could work it out, that Opti supplied chips and reference designs to a ton of companies, who then made the cards. Companies like Media Magic, Samsung, ECS and a ton of other fly by night companies.

I have one combining that same wavetable with ESS, and I must say while the wavetable is no Roland or Yamaha XG, it sure sounds better than some early stuff like the Diamond Monstersound. I'd rate it not perfect but perfectly enjoyable for authentic GM!
