3 years, 1 month and 3 days of sobriety from alcohol. I am so glad to have left behind the old me. God is good. Life didn't get easier just because I got sober. In fact, it got harder for a bit. But I learned one day at a time to just accept life as it is. Life is wonderful when you are actually aware of what's happening around you. Remember that sobriety comes in stages. First we get rid of the habit. Then we slowly learn to find the cause behind it and heal from the traumas and scars of the past. Be kind to yourself in learning the way that you need to heal. Everyone's journey is different. Don't compare your recovery to someone else's. You're where you need to be.
