I'm afraid I don't have any importing stories, but I did want to say, as a long-time NPR listener, how much I enjoy your logo variant.
It sucks. I had been getting a decent amount of cool stuff (relatively) cheap from Japan in the past couple years thanks to the weak yen, but not anymore. Obviously my toys being more expensive doesn’t even crack the top 100 Worst Things this administration has done, but yeah, still sucks
Living in the EU, my importing is... complicated. I can import whatever I want, no problem from other EU countries (hence why I was so pissed about Brexit), but anything from outside the single market gets 23% VAT, plus other fees, and if it exceeds 150€, you get tariffs added on top of that.
Pretty bad, it sucks it's going to cost more to import anything from now on for the foreseeable and even buying things in store in the states will be higher as well.
Due to the incredible $/¥ rate, I've been able to dramatically bolster the Kanzenshuu archives the last few years. I've also been keeping up with new Saikyo Jump & V-Jump purchases for well over a decade. Shipping's always wild compared to the item prices, but it's been worth it in the long run.
My collecting-life has slowed down quite a lot. (Old man voice): when I was a wee young lad, finding figures was quite the challenge, so I basically bought a figure every time I found a character I liked that I could afford. (You can stop doing the voice now 😂) As figures became easier to collect,
Alas not so good, mostly cause of limited space. Can't have a figure shelf for my house if I can't even afford a house. Tho at least I got stuff boxed up for when the times comes... eventually.
On my own end, i haven’t really been collecting a lot as of late not only because of prices, but also the lack of space i have in my room.
